Tunkwa Lake Starting to Produce

I was back home in Kamloops after a 3 week stint in the Grande Praire, AB oil patch. I missed Mother's Day and thought it would be cool to take mom out for dinner and, if I got the chance... fish too.

On Thurs. May 13, my friend Dave lent me his belly boat gear and I headed up to Tunkwa Lake for the morning. He suggested that I take advantage of the the chironomid hatches that seem to be happening at most of the lakes in the area. I launched at the day site at the back of the lake and fished just past the weed beds off the launch. I didn't have to go far.

Over about 3 hours I landed about 6 fish and lost quite a few others. I let go 2 more the size as the fish in the picture. The others were a little smaller. I've got to leave back to work this weekend but I'll be back to do it all over again in a few weeks.
