The Crescent Beach Boys Six Mile-Morgan Weekend- March 13/14 2010

Six Mile Lake - Ice Free - Early March 2010

Six Mile Lake - Ice Free - Early March 2010

We got up early, got our Tim's and headed up the Coquihalla for an ice off weekend. We went in to Morgan first and found the east end had a skim of ice on it so we headed back down to Six Mile. We were on the water by 9:30 and had our first fish in the boat by 9:45, a nice 12 incher caught on a red Micro leech. The weather was perfect, the lake was like glass, there were two boats out when we headed out and by 2:00 there was a dozen boats and a few tubers.

The fishing was steady all day until around 3:00 when the wind picked up. We were trolling all day dodging the casters who were catching fish as well. We got all of ours in the middle of the lake at around 10 ft in 17-20 feet of water. The water temp was 39 deg. The fish were all between ten and fourteen inches but they had lots of fight and the odd one was doing some dancing on the top of the water.

The wind really picked up around 4:00 and we hung in until 6:15pm, having only one fish from 3:30 on. We landed eleven fish and had five or so that got off early.

The next day we headed up to the west end of Morgan and it was cold as there was a really strong wind blowing in from the east. There were three boats on the lake anchored in the coves out of the wind. We figured that if it worked at Six Mile it would work at Morgan so we headed up the middle of the lake trolling red micro leaches and pumpkin heads. We got a strike on the pumpkin head and then we got one halfway in on a Werner Shrimp.

The wind was getting stronger and more people were coming and going a few guys fishing from shore and catching fish at both ends of the lake. The bobber fisherman were catching a few as well, all looked to be pretty nice fish in the 2 lb+ range. After changing to a gold beadhead shrimp and while letting out my line I had a big strike and managed to get 3 lber in the boat. We tried for a couple of hours more but the fishing seemed to drop off for us so we headed home.

All in all, considering it was 5 weeks earlier than last years trip, it was a ton of fun.

Your Stabilizers NEW
by: mr BFSH

Hi Gerry, too bad I couldn't get out to meet with you guys this weekend at the lakes.

I really wanted to see the boat stabilizers that you are marketing. Could you re-send me (by email please) a couple of pictures and more information about them and maybe we could share the info with our readers.

Thanks
