Wayne's 3 lb Red Lake Brook Trout
Red Lake BC Brook Trout Dine on the Booby Fly...
It was a cool blustery day but Red Lake was ice free (had been for a week) and my longest fishing buddy, Wayne from Penticton decided to come up for a day of fishing.
We both thought that the day was going to be orgasmic as I hit 3 fish dragging a booby fly from the south end boat launch to the houses/ cabins on the SE corner. 3 fish in 20 minutes... 2 brookies and 1 rainbow trout.
Wayne got the biggest fish of the day, a gorgeous 3lb brook trout. It was also the biggest brook trout that he had ever caught.
Fishing was spotty through the afternoon and then picked up a bit around 5:30pm.
Water temperature was only 38F when we arrived and warmed to 41F later in the day. We were picking up fish about 14' below the surface. Water clarity was fair... Red never gets better than fair for clarity.
There were a few other guys on the lake but they had limited success on chironomids and micro-leeches... we caught all eight of our fish on the Booby.
