May long 2009- Campbell Lake Kamloops B.C

Campbell Lake - May Long Weekend

Campbell Lake - May Long Weekend

Me and my fishin' buddy, got there on Friday. Went out on the lake around 7:30 pm and were trolling the far North end of the lake with a Dark green Frog looking Flat fish. We had a few strikes, nothing major.

On Saturday, got out about 9:30 am, and this time we were trolling the south end, with a Black wedding band and a worm, we wandered into this little nook kind of thing at the South - west end of the lake, We were getting fish on every 5 minutes, we landed about 6, 1 was questionable in size, but the others were FOR SURE keeper's.

The water may look calm, but it is tricky, I got towed back at the end of the trip, water was just too ruff.

Quick Fish NEW
by: Scott, Kamloops, BC

May 24/09. Got to the lake at 11 am, left at 1pm with 4 fish. Thought the limit was 2 each, too bad for us. Anyways 4lb, 3lb, and 2 at 2lbs. First time up, only used worms, wow!! Great lake!

Access to Campbell Lake NEW
by: Dave O

Hi Ron,
I was into Campbell Lake late last fall and you could probably get a car in there at that time. With the rain that we have had lately, I would think that the road between Scuitto and the Campbell Lake Forestry Rec site is pretty snotty.

The fish at Campbell are usually bigger than what we see here. Have you noted the change in regs this year for Campbell? They have removed the 2 fish limit, it is now 5. You will even be able to ice fish it this winter. My understanding is that there is too much stock in the lake and the Fisheries guys want the population thinned out.

Couple of questions about Campbell Lake NEW
by: Ron W

Good to see you were successful at Campbell.

How is the road into Campbell? I read that the road access had changed. Is it rough or good enough for a car?

What's the average size of the fish? Is the one in your photo bigger or smaller than the average?
