Best Fly Fishing Lakes in BC

Home of the famous Kami Trout, the Kamloops Area Lakes have the reputation of being the best fly fishing lakes in BC and has long been known as the choice destination for a BC fly fishing vacation. Blessed with exceptionally productive habitat, there are hundreds of lakes that await your cast. However, it is only in a handful of lakes that large Kamloops trout up to 10 lbs+ await you as you plan your fly fishing vacation.

Below is our collection of Kamloops AreaLakes. They are lakes that our author has usually fished a number of times over his 25 year residence in the Desert City.

Island (BigOk) Lake - Best Fly Fishing Lakes in BC

If Island Lake was a little closer to Kamloops, it would rival Pass Lake as my favorite fly fishing lake. Tucked in behind the Highland Valley Mine west of Logan Lake, Island offers some of the finest fly fishing for trophy rainbows in the area ...more on Island Lake

Campbell and Scuitto Lakes

campbell lake, kamloops area lakes, fly fishing lake, bigfishsmallhook "Campbell Lake" and "Scuitto Lake" are two of the most productive Kamloops flyfishing lakes. Some publications link them to the Roche Area Lakes however because they are actually part of the upper Campbell Creek watershed and have a separate access location, we have chosen to classify them to be in the Kamloops Area Lakes.

The bottom line is that the nutrient rich waters of the upper Campbell Creek watershed grow big, fat, healthy rainbows. ...more on Campbell and Scuitto Lakes

At an elevation of only 950m, this productive lake opens relatively early in the spring and stays open until mid November. It does tend to get a bit warm through the July and August and fishing falls off substantially.

Red is also a popular "ice fishing lake", particularly for the brook trout ... more info and stories of Red Lake BC
