KJ Casting for Rainbows at White Lake
Kamloops Fishing This Week:The weather has been so bad this week, particularly the wind, that it was hard to imagine that anyone even got out.
The air temperature has not been very co-operative either so even though we were able to fish the lower elevation lakes early, the same is not proving well for lakes above the 3200' elevation.
Consequently, with cool air temperatures prevailing and windy, cloudy days, the water temperatures have not been increasing with any haste.
On the Easter weekend I was reading surface temperatures in the 41F to 43F range, just as it was the week before. Insect hatches are slower to come off although there have been some healthy chironomid hatches at various locations... KJ and I certainly witnessed an steady daytime hatch at White Lake on Monday, April 5.
Haven't heard but Edith Lake should just about be ice free.
Apparently the water is starting to clear at Jacko Lake but the winds have been just awful. I would expect to see an "aluminum hatch" of fishermen there this weekend if the weather improves.
Otherwise, it's been pretty quiet.
