All of the fish had small black chironomids in their stomachs.

Duffy QuestionNEW by: Ron W
Thanks Dave. There are 2 boat launching sites at Duffy. One is the first area you see when you come to the lake (east end)and the other is farther along the right hand (north) side of the lake. I take the second because I'm kicking with the float boat and it's closer to the far (west) end of the lake with the shoals and dropoffs that I prefer. Duffy is a small lake so it's very easy to cover the whole lake just trolling along the shoreline.
I don't have a depth finder but I've been told by those who do that much of the shoal area varies in depth from about 8 to 17 feet with the center of the lake dropping off to about 40 feet. I like to cast from where I can't see the bottom over to where I can. I've had luck almost everywhere on the lake other than the east side so there are many good casting spots.

Nice Fish Ron!NEW by: DaveO
That's a nice catch Ron, especially the big one. At just over 22" I'm sure it was over 5lbs.
Did you get a chance to pump it's stomach to find out exactly what it was eating?
I've never fished Duffy so I don't know the water. If one was to be looking for good casting locations, which way do you go from the boat launch?
