Tunkwas Lake Sunset - Aug 2011

Tunkwas Lake Sunset - Aug 2011 KJ Looking for Love at Pass Red Lake, BC North End

Tunkwa Lake

Aug 10 - Fishing with KJ... Great weather, lousy fishing... little or no hatches. Only a few fish caught by others while we were there... I got one fish... 18" on a chromie... KJ got skunked.

Aug 12 - Went by myself... battery was dead... launched on the west side day use park. A few fish being caught but not much... fish were hard to hook... one guy missed 5 fish... lost them during the fight, never got one to the boat. I landed one fish all day... 18", again on a chromie.

Red Lake

Aug 14 - KJ and I fished the north end of the lake. He got one nice 23" rainbow (almost 6lbs) while I settled for - 2- 18" rainbows and one 13" brookie. Weather was overcast. KJ caught his on a sinking line with a black Doc Spratley while moving between anchor spots. I caught one rainbow on an orange bead micro-leech in 16' of water and the others on a caddis nymph in 12' of water.

Pass Lake

Aug 17 - windy in Kamloops but not too bad at Pass Lake... late day fish... 4pm to dark... I caught one smaller fish (16") on a micro leech. KJ lost a nice fish but that was it... no one else was catching fish either... very quiet at Pass... few or no hatches other than some mayflies hanging around the shore.
