Jacko Lake - Narry a Sniff - Oct 12

by Mr BFSH
(Kamloops)

My company had left and the only thing that I had left to do was to head up to the closest lake (Jacko Lake) on this Thanksgiving Monday.

The weather was clear and calm in the morning, albeit, frosty. As I packed things into the old van in the early afternoon, a high level veil of cloud was moving in and a slight breeze was developing.

When I arrived at Jacko Lake, there was a swirling breeze, mostly from the east and south. Most fishermen that were there for the day were coming off but it didn't stop more from arriving. Most of the people coming in said that the morning was ok but the afternoon was brutally slow. Lucky me, I got on the water just after 3pm.

I tried dragging a booby fly while I worked my way to Mine Bay where there were about 4 fishermen anchored. It didn't seem like they were getting much action. I anchored also and witnessed the same fate.

After about an hour and a half I decided to go on the drift/troll again with a deep sinker and the booby fly but still nothing transpired. While I was fishing, the whole 3 hours, I bet I didn't see more than 10 rises and most of those were lazy rolls in deep water as I was heading in.

I pulled off the lake around 6:30pm, cold and fishless.
