How could I pass that up!!

Guess Where Prozzy's Going???

Guess Where Prozzy's Going???

I had the good fortune to have a day off and was able to hook up with Mr Big Fish himself. We met a little later than scheduled ( note : take car seats out of truck the night before!) As an added bonus, Ron W joined us for the day as well. After grabbing coffee we hit the road, dreaming of big fish ahead. We hit the water around 10:00-10:30 with Ron getting his line wet way before Dave and I. I guess that is another advantage of a belly boat.

Dave and I were both showing a thermocline around 26 feet with fish hanging out in the 24 foot area. We found a spot of water to anchor in, about 35 feet deep and showing fish cruising just above the thermocline. Ron wandered over to us and all three of us dropped lines straight down, hoping to entice the BIG ONE to have a little snack! Dave had been here the week before and said that bloodworms were working well so I know that I had one tied on my floating line with a 22 foot leader. On my sinking line I was using old faithful, my "Guaranteed". We sat there listening to the fish finder ping and watching little electronic fish swim by, but no action for us.

Ron broke away first, heading to shore for a bit of a break, then Dave moved over to a marshy area and set anchor. I decided to take off the Guaranteed and go with a 2 tone brown 'woolly bugger' that I made the night before and drag it around the lake, following the shoreline. I made it to the far end of the lake, fighting a bit of a breeze, when I finally felt some small hits on my line.

I stayed in the bay at the East end of the lake, working the shore line for about an hour, getting half a dozen hits but not able to set a hook. By this time, Ron had made his way into the same area and when I saw that he was there, he was into the first fish of the day. Ron said that it didn't give up much of a fight but he was worried that it wouldn't fit into his net! Lucky for him it did fit and he landed a nice 21 1/2 incher!

Dave saw Ron and I converged so he made his way over to see what had our attention. He had no luck in the other spot that he was at. We anchored in the are that Ron had his hook up, with me still on my brown bugger and dropping the bloodworm again. The fish were showing the same as before, just above the thermocline around 24 feet. Within the next 30 minutes, I had 3 fish to the boat, each around 18-19 inches in length, unfortunately, to small to keep. Dave got in to 3 or 4 fish in the same time frame but Ron was the only one to walk away with dinner that day.

Dave and I stayed for about an hour after Ron pulled out to no avail. Fish were showing no interest in what we were offering. All in all it was a great day in a wonderful setting. I will definitely return in hopes of a monster!!

gonna have fun NEW
by: Anonymous

Thanks Dave, I'm sure that this trip will be as fun as the last one. I must be a bit more secure than you I guess, as I have no issues wearing this hat!

Thanks again for the great day last week. I'm thinking of going back there maybe Tuesday.

Have fun at the Princess NEW
by: mr BFSH

I have a hat like that too...
though I would never wear it...

It's a great place but I couldn't look my friends in the eye wearing anything that said "Princess" on it.

Have fun on your trip.
