GreatFall Fishing at RED LAKE BC

Steve's 4lb Red Lake Brook Trout 3 0f 4 Amigos - Dave-Wayne-Brian Our BCLakefronts.com Cabin at Dusk View From Our Porch

My brother Brian (Cornwall, Ontario)and my best friends Dave (Kamloops)and Steve (Cranbrook) and I (Penticton) went to Red Lake, BC, about one hour out of Kamloops for 3 great days of fishing (Sept13th - 15th).

We were very fortunate to have superb accommodation on the lake provided by BC Lakefronts.com. Our modern lakefront cottage had a single bedroom on the main floor and comfortable bunks plus a twin bed in the upper loft. Also on the main floor were the washroom / shower with lots of hot water / the kitchen area with modern appliances and a lounging area.

The lake views are spectacular. At night we gathered around the fire pit and relaxed with a few beer and a lot of fishing stories.

Talking about fishing... each of us got into quality brook trout on all 3 days. Red Lake has to be considered one of my favorites. It has lots of great shoals and weed beds that hold a ton of feisty fighting brookies. We caught a number of fish in the 2 to 4 lb range but with reports of even bigger fish available... I will be back to Red Lake again next year (or maybe to ice-fish this winter).

We caught the fish on a variety of flies--everything from leach patterns to shrimp patterns---lime green worked for us.

I definitely recommend this lake AND the great accommodations (as mentioned above) to anyone interested in a few days of fishing with the comforts of home.

Like Ice Fishing?... Check out the accommodations available at Red Lake this winter and take advantage of one of the best ice fishing lakes in the Kamloops area.
Brook trout to 5lbs, Rainbow to 8lbs.

Red Lake...More than just brookies
by: Anonymous

Red Lake is simply amazing, not only for the brook trout, but also for the rainbows. Three pound rainbows are considered small in this lake, with a few fish 10 lbs and up caught every year. With the exception of the first two times I went to the lake, I have caught at least one fish greater than 3 lbs every time I have gone...and sometimes those hogs are brookies. There are lakes close to Kamloops that have fish of the same size and even bigger brook trout, but there is something about Red that is special.

NOT Lucky at Red Lake
by: Anonymous

30 years eh?... Obviously fishing isn't your sport ...maybe you should take up billiards.

Red Lake
by: Brian Murphy

WOW--I loved the brookies at Red Lake. They have to be one of the best fighting fish pound for pound. I'm from Ontario and my brother Wayne (Penticton) surprises me every year when I come up for 3 weeks of fishing and exploring in B.C. with a new lake to try my luck in. This year was one of the best as Red Lake did not disappoint. The 4 of us caught many brook trout in the 3 days we were there.

I must say the accommodation was great through BCLakefronts.com too. It was very comfortable and homey. The cottage had most conveniences and more to make our stay a ton of fun.

I hope I can come up again to this great lake and accommodation.

Green Scuds Do It For Me
by: Steve (the Cranbrook Guy)

The Fishing At Red Lake just North Of Kamloops Was ( AWESOME ). Mr Big Fish, Wayne M. Brian M. Steve K. All of us had a great time.

The Cottage we stayed in was very modern & very comfortable. BCLakefronts.com has done done work on the 2 nice lakefront cottages that they built.
The scenery from the cottage windows & deck were very beautiful at this time of year, with the colors of fall in all their glory.

We tried so many different flies, but only a few worked. The lucky fly for myself (Steve) was a olive scud pattern. It turned out to be the lucky fly of the trip. The rainbow trout were basically not there, but we knew better. The fish we were catching were of the eastern brook family, very pink & delicious meat. I would like to do this trip again someday with the same company.
