Ritchie and Napier Lakes approx 30-35km south, left side of highway long narrow lakes, waterfowl along edges and at ends of the lakes surrounded by private land; fantastic viewpoint at south end of Napier Lake near top of the hill; colourful algae blooms

Stump Lake approx 40-50km Large recreational lake, exclusive lots and development opportunities, various points of access along Hwy 5A,one picnic site; best waterfowl viewing at south end of lake World class trout fishing, windsurfing and waterskiing, picnic site
Peter Hope Lake Turnoff 55km south - turn left, approx 5km to lake camping-forestry rec site; time share real estate opportunitie; Peter Hope Lake Resort; wetlands at north and south ends of lake fishing, hunting; lake is used as a reservoir; co-operative stewardship program (including DUC) to restore balance of the natural habitat
Beaver Flats Ranch and Wetlands

60km south - project on right side of road at special viewing location; parking area High profile DUC project - particularly popular waterfowl spring and fall staging; significant nesting area - visitors are welcome to hike the footpath around the lower marsh part of the Girard Guichon Ranch; particularly good for watching other birds; excellent water invertibrate study area
Nicola Lake approx 63-85kms south on 5A large recreational lake, fishing, water sports, waterfowl and other birds like eagles and ospreys - look for nests in trees along route Historic Quilchena Ranch / Hotel / Golf; Nicola Ranch; Upper Nicola Indian Band; access to Douglas Lake Ranch, Nicola Lake Yacht Club, camping, RV Park; important dam and control at south end; access to Monck Provincial Park - south end

1) all distances are approximate from the intersection of Highway 1 and Highway 5 in Kamloops
2) use caution when stopping along the highway - traffic can be dangerous
