Community Lake June 29

Even This Guy Was Going Hungry
I have been putting it off visiting Community Lake this year (for no particular reason) but my recollection of past fishing (that's why I keep a Journal) but I thought that this week would be good.
Late June means "traveler sedges" and there isn't a better lake in the area to produce these wondrous little creatures. Coming off a full moon didn't excite me much but I thought that the odds were in my favour.
The one factor I couldn't control was the weather but I thought that I had a handle on that... it was windy, very windy... coming from the the S - SW. The one thing that I did recognize... Community Lake offers pretty good shelter for South winds so I was confident that I could find some.
I arrived about 2pm and the campground was near full. I noticed Mo Bradley's vehicle in the parking area so I figured that I should be in some good company. There was a scheduled major feed period at 3:45pm so everything added up... except for the wind.
As I was getting on the water, Mo was setting up just outside the launch bay... he and a few of his buddies had been at the lake since 10am and one of his friends had already packed it in and was on shore. Mo said that he had been into a few fish, one real nice one but things had fallen off.
I proceeded to the large bay at the south end of the lake, an area that I usually fish (because it's the area that I have taken the time to learn in the past). There were 2 other fishermen in the bay, one right where I wanted to fish so I had to decide on another spot nearby. I saw fish moving on the shoal but neither I or the other guy could convince them to bite. Finally, after about an hour in the area, the other guy landed a medium sized fish.
I fished all around the bay. The occasional fish were jumping clear out of the water but nothing materialized for this guy. I dragged a booby, caddis pupa and micro-leeches... nothing.
As the sun was falling on the horizon, the windy weather started delivering storm clouds too, making it rather ominous. I has intended on staying out past dark to see if I could get into any rising trout at dusk but it was just too darned uncomfortable so I packed it in just as the sun disappeared behind the clouds on the western horizon. All that I could brag about on this trip was one bite just before I pulled up my gear.
As I was preparing to go in another boat actually came out an anchored in the same bay that I was fishing... and wouldn't you know it... he was into 2 fish before I disappeared.
I guess that's why they call it fishing instead of catching. I'll be back up there soon... it should produce well through July and there isn't anything quite like dry fly fishing with traveler sedges on our BC Lakes.
