2010.06.01 Jacko Lake - Water Rising

Jacko deadwood drifts against backdrop of green hills
Jacko Lake hasn't been good to me this year. I visited after ice off, the water was brown and I got skunked. I visited a month later, the water was even dirtier and I got skunked. I visited 2 weeks ago, the water still resembled a mud puddle and I got skunked again.
Not being a quick learner, I decided to give it one last try for the morning. With the recent rains the water level has risen and there was some deadwood drifting on the surface. The water clarity had improved, however, so I decided to give it a try.
I did notice the odd fish rising and tried trolling a couple of different leaches until I reached one of the far bays. No luck, so I switched to the basic chironomid pattern, black with red rib. There were a few chironomids coming off so I thought I might match the hatch. I had a brief flurry of activity with four strikes and three small fish landed before the fishing turned off much like the weather. An initially sunny sky turned to rain and the wind came up so I decided it was time to leave.
